The most consequential revelation from Sunday’s Super Bowl LIX was not who won or how they won. It wasn’t even the fact that, evidently, certain companies and organizations haven’t received the memo that America has killed wokeness and rejected DEI. No, the biggest revelation was an indicator of the massive culture shift we’re witnessing in real time. And as much as I despise wading into the cesspool that is pop culture, this seems like a significant change to discuss in the culture war. Let me explain.
To the chagrin of several NFL fans, last year, Taylor Swift became the face of the NFL. The pop-culture artist who holds a global fanbase of millions “earned” this status merely by dating a player for the Kansas City Chiefs — Mr. Pfizer himself, Travis Kelce. I care little for the drama and gossip that surrounds this overrated music artist and her love life, but it’s what she represents that is (unfortunately) important to state. For whatever reason, she has a massively loyal pool of supporters, and it’s definitely not due to the quality — or lack thereof — of her music. Her music is melodious trash, yet somehow she still stands out as an influential figure for millions of impressionable and arguably mindless individuals. These are the people who look to Hollywood and the entertainment industry to tell them how to think and live, because they do not know how to think for themselves. If you haven’t already guessed, these people are usually progressive liberals. In fact, according to Statista, in 2023, 55% of her fans were Democrat and 23% Independent, with only 23% identifying as Republican. Swift herself is a vocal leftist who frequently champions left-wing causes and beliefs, especially support for abortion. In spite of her mockery of Christ and Christian/biblical worldviews in her sex-filled lyrics, self-professed Christians still insist on joining the groups of “Swifties” who instantly eat up every song she releases and parrots every opinion or outlook she publicizes. The mass following that degenerates like Swift have is indeed indicative of many issues in our society.
But is all that changing now?
It seems that may be the case. When Taylor Swift was first entering the realm of the NFL through her media-fuelled romance with a vaccine-simping football athlete, she received thunderous applause at last year’s Super Bowl LVIII. The centre of attention clearly was not the game, considering the amount of times the camera panned to her in the VIP seating. But this Sunday’s Super Bowl was different. In addition to Swift, President Donald J. Trump was also in attendance, and the contrast of the reception each of them received couldn’t have been clearer. You can hear it for yourself if you go back and watch the videos circulating online and through the media. This time, the thunderous applause was directed at President Trump. Swift received the opposite reactions from the crowd: loud and pronounced booing.
So why were the arena’s reactions so different at this year’s Super Bowl? Did the crowd change…or did public sentiment change?
I believe what we witnessed was a concise illustration of the shifting culture. Swift may once have been a prominent social icon — and she still likely is one — but her effects are wearing off. Fewer people are looking to her to tell them how to think because they’ve seen how they’ve been lied to by the ruling deep state regimes. She’s just a reminder of how the progressive elites use media to trick impressionable consumers into accepting a liberal mindset. Even to the less politically-minded who just want to enjoy a game of football, she has infected their hobby with pop culture mindlessness with which they do not care to be bothered.
If you’re still not convinced, further evidence of this is a study that came out shortly after Swift endorsed Kamala Harris for president in mid-September. The study showed that only 8% of people decided to vote for Harris following the endorsement. On the flip side, 20% said that her endorsement made them less likely to vote for Harris. This is a huge white-pill for conservatives, showing that progressive pop culture celebrities seem to have much less influence than they once did. Centuries ago, people admired and revered the noble warriors, kings, and conquerors of the day. They were the heroes, icons, and “influencers,” if you will, that people modelled their lives and worldviews after. But this century, we no longer have that. We have actors, singers, and social media personalities who society chooses to admire and revere. These celebrities set the standards and trends that gullible consumers partake in on a daily basis. But as their progressive and society-destroying ideologies become more and more unpopular to support, society turns back to the noble warriors deserving of proper admiration and respect.
The times are changing, and conservatives are finally adjusting to a winning mindset once again. Trump’s incredible actions so far and MAGA’s vast influence are having real-world and real-time affects on the world. This ranges from the removal of DEI practices in a multitude of companies and organizations (including government agencies under the lens of Elon Musk and DOGE) to the National College Athletic Association stating that “a student-athlete assigned male at birth may not compete on a women’s team,” and so on. The culture is clearly shifting, but there is still more work to be done. So, conservatives, take the white-pill and keep pushing forward.
