In Honour of Charlie Kirk on His National Day of Remembrance

“Here I am, Lord. Send me.” – Isaiah 6:8

On September 10, 2025, a shockwave was sent throughout the world. This shockwave left a burning hole in many of our hearts that will not soon be healed.

At 2:23 P.M. (ET) on that Wednesday afternoon, a shot rang out at Utah Valley University where Charlie Kirk, outspoken conservative activist, world icon, and Christian role model, was spending his day debating a horde of liberal-minded students. This was a very common environment to find him in. The 31-year old political influencer had been to countless campuses throughout the country during his career. He felt that the young minds being molded by post-secondary institutions contributed immensely to the future of America. That’s why his organization, Turning Point USA, committed itself to guiding those minds towards the democratic selection of a better country, one freer and safer for all subsequent generations.

Charlie’s personal affects on people manifested through a variety of means — from his role as a husband and a father to all the college campuses he visited in attempts to turn young students into upstanding, sensible, and godly citizens. He knew how to debate well, profess his views articulately, and defend the truths he held so close. Through his networking with several top leaders in the world, he showed his passion for (most of all) his Christian faith and for his own country. He particularly served as a role model for men on how to grow, mature, and lead their families and countrymen in a righteous way. He held to these positions right to his final breath. He engaged people of all beliefs, faiths, and worldviews respectfully, offering them the dignity of another human being. Despite the media propaganda that branded him as racist or bigoted, Charlie did not show deep-rooted malice in his heart towards anyone; he only sought to redirect their thinking into the light of the truth.

Unfortunately, there were many of his opponents who did not feel the same way, yet Charlie still exercised an admirable amount of patience with them. Some were respectful in turn, while others responded childishly or even maliciously — notably, the one who took the most severe action and ended Charlie’s life on that Wednesday.

As people worldwide — blue-collar workers, prime ministers, and presidents alike — watched in horror the footage of a bullet ripping through Charlie’s neck from 200 yards away at the hands of a deranged, blood-thirsty psychopath, everyone recognized that this would be a “turning point” for the global order.

It was a day that many would always remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news; for me, I was on a beach at a location hundreds of miles away from my hometown. With the little reception I had, I was still quickly notified of the tragic events taking place and managed to monitor the situation till the dreaded announcement came. When I drove out that evening, I drove in complete silence. When I went to bed that night, I lay for awhile just staring at the ceiling. Following conversations with friends and family were somber, as we all reflected quietly on the same topic. Nothing that could be said would be fitting enough for the tragedy we had just watched.

Charlie Kirk had been an immense inspiration for me for years. His book “The College Scam” was one of my major reads in the political science genre, and his organization’s events and seminars that rallied like-minded influencers and individuals from around the world were mind-blowing. I’m not the only one with a story like this; there are many such testimonies.

Our loss of Charlie tells us many things. It tells us firstly that the world will now be forced to endure without one of its strongest warriors and best men; secondly that the threat of political violence is evidently more alive than ever (in spite of the conservative direction of the world order); and thirdly that the left has no shortage of psychotic supporters filled with vitriolic, murderous hatred and who revel in the deaths of their political opponents.

In spite of the sad and sickening reality we live in, we must follow Charlie’s example. We must march on in courage, faith and love, standing strong for the truths we profess. We must be unashamed of what we believe and unafraid to speak it. We must not let his mantle fall but instead carry out his visions, working to change minds through the democratic process and healthy dialogue.

Yes, one of the best of us has passed on. But we can’t let Charlie Kirk’s ministry die with him.

IN HONOUR OF CHARLIE KIRK (1993-2025)
